Signalization of]4_ Avenue N.

Staff took traffic counts at the intersection of 142nd Avenue N.W. and Trunk Hig1'~way
#47 on Wednesday, April 25 and Thursday, April' 26, 2001. Data was transmitted to SKF
for review. Preliminary review by SRF's traffic analyst suggest the intersection to be
close to meeting warranties. SRF was directed to do hourly counts (City doesn't have the
equipment to do hourly counts) and anticipated results back on before the public works
meeting,

The understanding with MnDot is that the intersection would be signalized' when and if
warrants were met. If traffic warrants for signalization were met, a project change order
to install signals would be the next step. If warrants are not met staff should be directed
to desig-n islands prohibiting left tums onto Trunk Highway #47 at 142nd Lane N.W. This
has been the previous direction of Council. A change order would be required to install
this island under this contract.

Committee Action:

No action required until results of sig-nalization study are completed.

Reviewed by:

City Administrator
Director of Public Works

PW: 05/15/01

I
I

I
I
I
I
I
I
i
I

I
I
I
!

I
