I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />! <br />I <br />I' <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />May 22,2001 <br /> <br />Dear Ms. Moore-Sykes: <br /> <br />RECEIVED <br /> <br />I am submitting my letter of application for appointment for the city of Ramsey Planning <br />and Zoning Commission. <br /> <br />I have over thiay years of experience in the building trades including working with <br />design builders on new and remodeling projects. This experience is a combination of <br />hands on and supervisory experiences, involving site preparation, lay out of the buildings <br />including parking lots, which involves working with a variety of trades. It also requires a <br />working familiarity with blueprint reading and site plans for all different phases of the <br />building fl"om site preparations to the completion ofdae project. <br /> <br />My experience and close working relationship with various inspectors would provide a <br />history of what some of the other cities, have done 'to solve their building challenges <br />while maintaining building integrity and protecting the city from liabilities. <br /> <br />Having built buildings for a variety of developers, some in challenging site locations. I <br />am also aware of the construction costs and what is reasonable to expect, what is not, and <br />what other cities provide as to site improvements. I am familiar with the requirements <br />regarding access points, li~ting for the building and parking lot, site elevations and <br />drainage issues, vehicle turning radius requirements. I also know what practices lead to <br />problems in the future and how to protect the city from these expenses and when the <br />developer is pleading hardslfip for what is a standard building expense in another city. <br /> <br />I helped to organize the Northem LigNs Soccer club, which is a division of RYAA and <br />coached 19 area soccer teams. I was an officer in the Ramsey PTA and chosen to serve <br />on task forces representing Ramsey Elementary at the district and state level. I was a <br />Cub Scout leader and served on the Viking council for the Boy Scouts of,aanerica and a <br />Y-Guide leader for YMCA. I was a licensed foster parent and host family for children <br />from Northern Ireland. <br /> <br />I have lived in Ramsey for twenty-four years and would welcome this opportunity to <br />serve my community.
