IV1AY. 31.200I 12:13PN1TF. AiVlSTERS LOCAL 120(651)64I 1248 N0.9835 P. 2/2

I
I
I
'1
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

May 31,2001

Sylvia Frolik
Community Development Director
Ramsey Planning Commission
15153 Now'then Blvd NW
Ramsey, MN 55303

Dear Ms. Frolik:

We are in receipt of the "Notice of Public Hearingi' dated May 25, 2001, with regard to the
development of'q'he Pondsf'. unfortunately we are unable to attend the meeting scheduled for
Tuesday, June 5, 2001, therefore, we are submitting our written concerns/comments.

We are extremely concerned with the number of vehicles that will be going through our
neighborhood. One of the entrances shown on the primarY plat for 'q-he Ponds? is located at
Iodine and 146th Avenue NW. We live on Lot #15 on 146t~ Ave NW in the Wood Pond Hills
development (5641-146u~ Ave NW), We have enough problems as it is with"speedinCtraffic on
our street, and now you want to add to it. All homes located on 146th Avenue NW in Wood Pond
Hills are owned by families who have small children, with the exception of Lots No. 5, 6 and 12
(located at the corners of 146th Avenue NW and Junkite) who have no children. Our
neighborhood cannot handle the additional traffic.

Another concern is what schools have been zoned to enroll the many children that will be living
in this development? Ramsey Elementary School, Sandberg Middle School and Anoka High
School is crowded enough as it is, and with the budget cuts being proposed by the Governor the
schools will not be able to handle any more children.

We would be ok with only the senior citizen housing development, as we know the property will
be well taken care of and there will be no additional children to crowd the schools in District 11.
Does Ramsey not have any other land in the northern or northwestern area of the city (within
the Elk River School District) that can be zoned for single family homes and townhomes? We
are more in need of a community park and/or a community center in that area, not more housing
developments. The Southeast corner of Ramsey is already lookinq more like an "urban
city" instead of a suburban community!

By this letter we are in total disagreement with the development of 'q'he Pond' in our
neighborhood, We as a family, along with our neighbors, will do whatever it will take to stop the
development. Please keep us informed of all other meetings regarding this issue. Thank you
for your attention to this very serious matter.

Randy & Kri~ine Dubieland ~mily
5641-146~ Avenue NW
Ramsey, MN 55303

Mayor Tom Gamec
City Council Members
