St. Pau! Terminals DBA
Danny's Trannys

4030 E~L~'~//[ 37
Rcmz,~'~3,, 3..L%' 33303
Ojfice (763) 42]-]223

~U~;J" 3.5303 ."~:

M, ro~ 7, 200]

Mr. Mayor and Members of the Council

As you are well aware St. Paul Terminals has been operating this facility since
1999. There is a lease purchase option between Mr. Dan Karst and deff Schott Sr. of St.
Paul Terminals. The agreement is pending closure. Currently the final documents are
being prepared for the closure of this sale. From our phone conversations with Mr. Karst
and Braun Jntertec, it is our understanding that the property in negotiation is clean and
needs no further action is taken in regard~ to contamination. It is also our understanding
that the remaining document to be administered is the CUP. Only until recently that all of
the information has been provide& we at St. Paul Terminals have come to a conclusion
that the CUP as it is written is not in accordance with the manner in which this property
has been operated in the past. It was represented to us that the property in question may be
operated in a manner in which we have. Recently we closed this facility to the general
public in March of 2001. [n order to resolve this issue we felt it was necessary to remain
closed to the general public until these issues were resolved.

To help you better understand how this all came to be; ~ will explain the situation
in some detail In October of 2000; a mediator regarding the I 4 fft extension approached
St Paul Terminals. Only 2yrs ago we installed a $70, O00 platform pit scale. Now since the
proposed extension of14I~t our company has been asked to make major changes to its
operation to accommodate what the city needs. Since that time we have been in many
meetings regarding this issue. One of the main topics of discussion seems to be the use of
iota' 2, 3, 4. As for the issue of storage, the only materials brought onto the site are those
that we intended to use to construct the new fence. After some time we were informed by
city staff the majority of the industrial park is under redevelopment. Staff has informed us
that they wouM no longer accept steelfences and/or buildings with steel siding. We have
agreed to incorporate concrete style buildings and screening in our proposed
development. The issue of sotid waste has also been a large issue with the city and county.

I
I
I
!
I
i
I
I
I
I
I

-350-

I
