Also attached are the projected financial costs to <br />implement and carry out the educational requirements of the proposed changes. All technical <br />equipment needed to conduct the seminars has already been purchased with funds from a <br />Minnesota Department of Health Grant received early in 2001. This equipment should last for <br />several years. All other written mater/al is available either on the internet or can be obtained free <br />of charge from the Department of Health. <br /> <br />Staff time for each seminar/presentation would be two hours for the Crime Prevention Specialist <br />and one hour each for the Chief and City Prosecutor or City Attorney. There are currently 22 <br />licensed tobacco retailers in Ramsey. Only one new license has been granted so far in 2001. <br />This means that the 21 licenses are renewals requiring about 30 minutes of the City Clerk's time <br />for each license renewal. Ramsey's cun-ent fee for a tobacco license is $ I25.00. <br /> <br />State law requires that the City give notice to ail licensed tobacco retailers of any substantial <br />changes to the tobacco ordinance. Said notice shall be in writing and given at least 30 days prior <br />to final adoption of such ordinance changes or amendments. Said notice shall also contain the <br />time, date, location of the meeting and a summary of the proposed changes or amendments. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Introduce the Ramsey "Youth Access to Tobacco" ordinance as amended and place it into <br />Chapter 7 of the City Code. <br />Council Action: ) . t~ ~J <br />Motion to introduc ce #98-02 titled "yo~uth acce§s to tobacco" as amended, and <br />place said amended ordinance into Chapter 7 of the Rainsey City Code.~.~4 <br /> <br />Reviewed by: ~~~~ <br />Police Chief <br />City Attorney <br />Ci~ Administrator <br /> <br /> <br />
