Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #11: Report from the Personnel Committee <br /> <br />The Personnel Committee met on July 24, 2001 and discussed the following cases: <br /> <br />1) Consider Ending Probationary Period of Crime Prevention Specialist <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman stated that Chandra Kreyer assumed the position of Crime <br />Prevention Specialist on January 24, 2001, and her six-month probationary period date ended <br />July 24, 2001. Her performance has been reviewed by Sergeant Jim Way and documented as <br />satisfactory. Based on the satisfactory six-month appraisal, staff recommended Ms. Kreyer be <br />retained as a regular full-time employee effective July 24, 2001. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Anderson, seconded by Councilmember Hendriksen, to adopt <br />Resolution #01-07- ending probationary period for Crime Prevention Specialist Chandra <br />Kreyer and grant her the status of regular full-time employee effective July 24, 2001. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler stated that he has worked with <br />Chandra and it has been a pleasure' and feels that she is a great resource to the City. Mayor <br />Gamec noted that Ms. Kreyer was very well sp4ken of at the Duluth convention for the work she <br />has done. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Anderson, Hendr/ksen, Kurak, <br />and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />2) Authorize Employee Benefit Review Analysis <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman stated that at the request of the Labor Management Committee, staff <br />presented employee benefits information to members of the City Council at a work session on <br />July 10, 2001. Staff was seeking Council input regarding a request to have a benefit review <br />analysis conducted by T.C. Field & Company, th~ City's current agent of record. About one year <br />ago, the Labor Management Committee started to revisit current employee benefits and inquired <br />about different insurance carriers and benefit plans that may better serve the professional and <br />personal needs of the City's employees. The City currently contributes towards health insurance, <br />but supplemental benefits are employer sponsored/employee paid. As part of the Committee <br />discussions, several concerns were raised about the rising costs of health insurance in addition to <br />the following items: <br /> <br />· Dental Insurance <br /> <br />City Council/July 24, 2001 <br /> Page 21 of 23 <br /> <br />-70- <br /> <br /> <br />
