-84- <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that he did not think that there would be much land left to <br />develop west of Armstrong Boulevard once the bridge is constructed. <br /> <br />Larry Bachan, Consultant, stated that at the end of their last meeting he was given the impression <br />that he and staff were to identify more acreage for industrial and know what is hearing is that the <br />land that has been presented is not enough. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that staff is saying they can create more industrial area in <br />others area of the City when that will already be occurring. He felt that the consultant was <br />asking them to compromise on some of their principals. <br /> <br />Mr. Bachan replied that what staff presented was not a proposal, but was a way to add acreage to <br />the industrial development. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that he did not see anything coming their direction to address <br />the concerns they have. <br /> <br />Mr. Bachan replied that the options presented were not defined to address anyone's particular <br />concerns. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that he does not look at industrial and commercial as being two different <br />things, but looks at tax base. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen replied that he agre'ed with Mayor Gamec, but the City has 19,000 <br />people currently living in the City and how many more houses do they want in the commercial <br />area so the businesses around have enough people. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that a certain type of housing could be around town center area. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen replied that the City receiv'es no tax base off of residential property. <br /> <br />City Administrator Norn~an stated that he did not agree with that comment. <br /> <br />Mr. Bachan reviewed the areas that were proposed additions for industrial development to the <br />Comprehensive Plan. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that he did not think the properties identified were additions <br />because they would already have been developed commercial/industrial. <br /> <br />Mr. Bachan replied that the property has to be identified as commercial/industrial in order to be <br />built that way and the properties identified are currently not zoned commercial/industrial. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that in his opinion everything between Ramsey Boulevard <br />and Armstrong Boulevard should be limited to commercial and industrial development, up as far <br /> <br />City Council/July 26, 2001 <br /> Page 2 of 6 <br /> <br />I <br />i <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br /> <br />
