I

Brian Olson, P.E.

July 12, 2001

I
I
I
I

I

Table 5
Expected Daily. Traffic Volumes at Each Access Location

Access Location Daily Trips
Yak/ma Street it 156th Lane 180
Waco Street at Juniper Ridge Drive 30
155th Lane at Barium Street 410
Xkimo Street at 153rd Avenue 310
Waco Street at 153rd Avenue 480
Ute Street at 153rd Avenue 140

Without access provided to/from 155th Lane, nearby residents would be required to travel
through the development to reach 156th Lane or 153rd Avenue. This would add more trips to
other access points, primarily Yakima Street at 156th Lane and Waco Street at 153rd Avenue.

I
I

It is recommended that all proposed access points be constructed since a higher number of access
points provide more routes to/from the development, which will reduce the traffic impacts at any
one access. A higher number of access points will also provide street .continuity for snow
plowing and emergency vehicle access. In addition, the total travel distance .in and out of thesite
will be reduced.

Summary and Conclusions

I
I

A residential development is proposed on a currentlY vacant site bordered by 156th Lane,
Roanoke Street, i53rd Avenue and Argon Street in the City of-Ramsey. The proposed
development includes 155 single-family homes. The purpose of this study is to examine the
impacts this development would have on the adjacent roadway system.

Based on the analysis, the following conclusions and recommendations are offered for your
consideration:

· All key intersections currently operate at an acceptable LOS B or better during the a.m.
and p.m. peak hours, with existing geometrics and traffic control.

I
I

With the construction of the proposed residential development, all key intersections are
expected to operate at an acceptable LOS B of better during the a.m. and.p.m, peak hours
in the year 2006.

-149-
