We, like the Board of Adjustments are concerned <br />about the safety of tile homeowners who will live in the building. We recognized that the height of the <br />building from the lowest point of ground to the peak of the roof is 52 feet and exceeds the 35-foot height <br />restriction of the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />We believe that the safety of the homeowners and the safety of the city staffwho may provide fire <br />suppression and rescue activities has been provided fbr by the following: · The building is totally sprinkled. <br /> · The building will have hard wire smoke alarms throughout the facility. These <br /> alaTns will be monitored by the building staff. <br /> · The building is designed to meet the fire code including firewalls, fire doors, <br /> drat5 curtains and other design features that are required by the code. <br /> · The maximum height of the decks and living area on any of the units is 32 <br /> feet. This is below the required maximum height of the building. <br /> · On the driveway side (north side) of the building the maximum height is 42 <br /> feet and midpoint on the roof the height is less than 35 feet. <br /> · The cities of Anoka and Andover have equipment with reach capabilities. <br /> Ramsey has a joint powers agreement with those cities. <br /> · The City of Ramsey's 2002 preliminary, budget includes the purchase of an <br /> aerial ladder. <br /> · The City of Ramsey's Fire Cf'clef supports the variance contingent on <br /> obtaining an aerial ladder truck. <br /> <br />We ask your consideration in this important decision as without it we will be unable to proceed with the <br />proposed project. <br /> <br /> lair K.
