-50- <br /> <br />the Finance Committee and that staff draft a policy in regards to the amount of excess funds that <br />can be used for purchases. <br /> <br />Motion failed for lack of second. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Henddksen, seconded by Councitmember Kurak, that staff <br />understands that the Council wants to purchase an aerial ladder fire truck, three police cars, and a <br />dump truck out the Equipment Revolving Fund, and direct staff to amend the ordinance and <br />policy to allow the Council to make those purchases this year from the Equipment Revolving <br />Fund. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler stated that the one thing he has <br />struggled with in the budgeting process is if they were to have a catastrophic failure with <br />equipment there would not be designated funds to cover the costs. He questioned if it would be <br />possible for the City to "piggyback" those 'situation into that policy rather than keeping <br />maintenance budgets artificially higher. Consensus was to address the issue as part of the <br />Equipment Revolving Fund policy. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Hendriksen, Kurak, Anderson, <br />and Zimmerman.
