1) Draft City Council regular meeting minutes dated October 12, 2010
PUBLIC HEARINGS /COMMISSION BUSINESS
Case #1: Public Hearing — Request for a Conditional Use Permit to Exceed the Total
Amount of Accessory Structure Square Footage at 8150 144 Avenue NW;
Case of Leon Richter
Public Hearing
Chairperson Levine called the public hearing to order at 7:18 p.m.
Presentation
Associate Planner Gladhill presented the staff report.
Citizen Input
Leon Richter, 8150 144 Avenue NW, the applicant, stated the purpose of the large structure was
to store a future recreational vehicle. He stated access will be by the side yard on the right side of
the house and someday he will pave it or put class V down.
Associate Planner Gladhill stated as the city looks at enhancing the accessory structure
regulations, requiring a driveway to access a detached accessory structure might be an item to
review. It is not currently required, so it can't be required for this structure unless there is a
traffic lane worn in the grass. This is a conditional use permit, so we could require it as a
condition of the permit.
Mr. Richter stated it is going to be used for storage, so he won't be driving to the building
regularly.
Discussion ensued regarding access to the accessory structure and which buildings will be
removed.
Associate Planner Gladhill stated 2700 square feet of accessory structure is allowable in this area
and lot size; this request is for just over 3700 square feet.
Steven Will, 8144 144 Avenue NW, stated he has the property directly east of the Richter's'
and does not have an issue with the accessory structure.
Motion by Commissioner Dunaway, seconded by Commissioner Van Scoy, to close the public
hearing.
Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Levine, Commissioners Dunaway, Van Scoy, Brauer,
and Rogers. Voting No: None. Absent: None.
Planning Commission/December 2, 2010
