The Planning Commission met on December 4, 2001 to hold a public hearing and reviewed the
conditional use permit request. There was no verbal or written comments submitted at the public
hearing regarding the request to exceed sign size restrictions.

Subsequent to the Planning Commission meeting Mr. Deal, the property owner, provided staff
with additional information regarding the dimensions of the building front. The building front of
the structure is 814 square feet; therefore they are allowed 122 square feet of signage. The
proposed awning is 315 square feet in size; this would result in a 193 square foot overage of wall
signage instead of the above mentioned 250 square foot overage.

Recommendation:

The Planning Commission recommended approval of a 250 square foot wail sign overage. Upon
further information from Mr. Deal, Valvoline Express Care is requesting to exceed wall sign
restrictions by 193 square feet.

Council Action: / ~'O~x- ' 0 \Z,, ,'\ ~ ,<~'tx') ·

Motion to adopt finding.s/of fact # ~JS\~elating to Crosstown Sign and Valvoline Express
Card's request for a conditional use permit to exceed wall sign restrictions.
-and- ; ~,, c,~,~--'-". ~ ~~
· Motion to adopt Resolution # '~L/approving Crosstown Sign and Valvoline EXpress C,ar.,e's
request to exceed wall sign square footage restrictions based on the findings of fact #
and adopt a resolution declaring terms of the conditional use permit.

-or-

Motion to deny Crosstown Sign and Valvoline Express Card's request for a conditional use
permit, based on the findings of fact.

Review Checklist:
Community Development Directolr'- ~,,~,~__
Principal Planner
City Attorney

CC: 12/18/01

-112-

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
