July 9, 2003

iVk. Steve Jankowski
Cky Engineer for the City, of Ramsey
t 5153 Nowthen Boulevard
Ramsey, MN' 55303

' r'

RE: Additional Speed Limit Signs in the Norrkfork Development

Dear Mr. Jankowski:

We writing to request that the City-'of Ramsey consider our neighborhood's need
for additional speed limAt signs. Its residents believe our safeu dePends on this.

For your information, our development is comprised of approximaety 7 miles of
public roads and our neighborhood consists of 240 homes. We feel that, given the vast
area of land in which we cover and the density of our population, the t~hree northbound,
two eastbound and one southbound existing %0 ~[PH Speed Limit" sigris are no longer
sufficient to control the traffic which has increased dramatically over the years.
Aaached you will find a copy of the map laying out our development and, as you 'can see.
there are a few -areas which need signs to remind drivers of the speed limit. Specifically,
St..Andrew's Lane is lacking in such a sign. But, three areas in which the residents
currently have the most conce _rns are:

1. 164th Lane westbound wherein the vehicles have been seen traveling up to 50 mph
a~ter gaining speed from descending down the hill:
2. 162nd Lane westbound be~wveen the residences 880 i and i 6251 where dr/ring at
top speed has become a chronic problem; and
3. 162n~Lane eastbound where drivers take advantage of descending the hill to reach
dangerous speeds by the time they approach the pedestrian crossing for ihe
Ramsey City Trail.

It is our hope that, in conjunction with our reporting these speeding violations to
the Ramsey Police Departmem, additional speed 1/mit signs wilt be successful in keeping
our neighborhood safe. Thank you in advance for your anticipated consideration of this
matter.

Sincerely,

North_fork Homeowners Association Board
& Marie R. Anderson Northfork Homeowners Association Safety Commktee Chair

-209-
