PC CASE <br /> <br />AUTHORIZE HIRING OF CITY PLANNER <br /> By: James E. Norman, City Administrator <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The appointment of Sylvia Frolik to the Community Development Director position left a <br />vacancy in the position of Zoning Administrator. Staff recommended for the 2000 budget the <br />position of Zoning Administrator with a City Planner position. A multi-faceted recruitment <br />process for a variety of municipal positions was utilized and applications were received through <br />November 5, 1999. Approximately 22 applicants for various planning positions were referred to <br />Special Projects Consultant Ed Shukle. Resumes were reviewed and a group of five finalists <br />were selected for interviews. <br /> <br />Interviews for the finalists were conducted by the City Administrator, Interim Community <br />Development Director Sylvia Frolik, and Ed Shukle on December 27, 1999. Following the <br />interviews, reference checks were made on the two final candidates. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />On the basis of interview results and reference checks, staff is recommending that the Council <br />authorize the hiring of Anita Rasmussen to fill the position of City Planner, effective January 26, <br />2000, at the posted annual salary of $38,686 for step 1 of the position, contingent upon <br />satisfactory results from a physical examination. <br /> <br />Committee Action: <br /> <br />Motion to recommend that the City Council authorize the hiring of Anita Rasmussen to fill the <br />position of City Planner, effective January 26, 2000, at the posted annual salary of $38,686, <br />contingent upon satisfactory results from a physical examination and background check. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br /> <br />City Administrator <br />Interim Community Development Director <br /> <br />PC: 01/11/00 <br /> <br /> <br />
