i. <br />i <br />I <br /> <br />,/ <br /> <br />Violence Prevention Services and Teen Advocacy Services <br />Advocates provide classroom violence prevention educational presentations to Anoka County <br />students in grades kindergarten to high school. Violence prevention services create a safe <br />atmosphere where children and youth learn about the issues of violence, resources available <br />and how to help someone who is hurt. Each presentation is tailored to specific topics and age <br />groups. The topics include respecting each other, healthy relationships, fanfily violence, <br />dating violence and safety planning. <br /> <br /> ~ddition, teen advocacy services are provided in Anoka-Hennepin gl 1 and Spring Lake Par'- <br /> school distrY:ts. These services are available to middle and high school st-ud~nts who <br /> .:F~.rienced vioience in their ...homes, among peers or in dating relationships. ' <br /> ~ ~omlng evchi:s. <br /> <br />i!):::*essional T? .dning <br />Pre ':ssional tr~' ~ing is provided to law e'~%rcement, ~calth care, :ocial service providers~ <br />co-,-t personnd, and other professionals fn the cornm:mity. <br /> <br />,¥(" xnteer Proframming <br />Vc,[anteers are trained to ser:/e in all aspects of Alexandra House, Inc. services including crisis <br />pixo~e advocacy, support group facilitation, transportation, legal systems advocacy, child care, <br />intervention, and hospital advocacy services. <br /> <br />Volunteers are recruited through speaking engagements and notices to churches, and the local <br />media, targeted to specific populations and communities. Volunteer gainings are held 3 times <br />a year and consist of 30 hours of initial training. Follow-up on-the-job training and monthly <br />in-services are also provided. <br /> <br /> <br />
