III.

Most Rise participants don't drive or own a car; therefore, they rely on the MTC,
Metro Mobility, Anoka Traveler, or R/se. We only transport people who have no
other transportation possibilities. R/se transports approximately 390 persons each
day and makes 780 one-way trips. Sixty percent of the riders or 232 persons are from
Anoka County and need transportation to and from work. Of the 15 persons Rise
serves fi'om Ramsey, 10 o£them use R/se vans.

C. Total estimated cost of project.
$160,500

D. Detailed Project Description (be specific)
R/se would like to purchase two mini-buses with wheelchair li~s for $48,000 each
(total $96,000) and three 15-passenger vans for $21,500 each (total $64,500) to
replace existing vehicles which are aging and have many miles on them and to add
vehicles to our programs which have expanded. Transportation makes jobs and
income possible for Rise participants who have disabilities or other banSers to
employment. Since many of the people Rise serves have severe physical,
developmental, and sensory disabilities, mental illness, traumatic brain injuries, and
are medically fragile, they need specialized transportation services.

Rise transports people who live in a 40-mile radius and work at more than 30
businesses throughout the Twin Cities metropolitan area. R/se vans travel as far north
as Isanti, as far south as Bloomington, and as far west as Eden Prairie. Over 90
percent of the people Rise serves work in competitive or supported employment jobs
in the Twin Cities metropolitan community and suburbs.

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
!
I

I
I
I
I
I
I

I
