It is intended that a set of tire deflators be purchased for
each of these squads and that three sets of existing deflators be placed in police vehicles not now
equipped with the devices. The Police Department applied to the Department of Public Safety
for a matching grant in the amount of $652, which has been approved. While the State does not
require Council approval to award the funds, staff is asking for Council authorization to enter
into the joint powers agreement and for the City to accept the matching grant.

Personnel Committee/January 25, 2000
