City Engineer Jankowski explained there was concern about the Northstar <br />Corridor and possible backing up into the intersection so it was felt an interior location farther <br />west would be more appropriate. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Pro tem Zimmerman, Councilmembers Hendriksen, <br />Connolly, and Anderson. Voting No: None. Absent: Mayor Gamec. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />Review of Highway #10 Stormwater Treatment Alternatives (Improvement Project <br />#99-67) <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski explained that staff reported to the Public Works Committee that it had <br />investigated five alternatives for providing storm sewer to the Mississippi Subdrainage District <br />No. 1. He explained that the feasibility study needs to be completed quickly to ensure <br />construction commences by mid-May. '14he alternative selected was the least costly of those <br />investigated and will provide storm sewer to all properties within the district. The Public Works <br />Committee directed staff to complete the feasibility as soon as possible using the recommended <br />alternative. He noted the copy of the feasibility report and stated that notices of the February 8th <br />public hearing will be mailed to affected property owners, if approved by the City Council. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Connolly, seconded by Mayor Pro tern Zimmerman, to ratify the <br />direction of the Public Works Committee and direct staff to complete the feasibility as soon as <br />possible using the recommended alternative. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Pro tern Zimmerman, Councilmembers Connolly, <br />Anderson, and Hendriksen. Voting No: None. Absent: Mayor Garnet. <br /> <br />3) Update on Annual Street Maintenance Program Long Range Planning <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski explained the Public Works Committee wanted to do some long-range <br />planning for street improvements so staff programmed the annual street maintenance program for <br />the years 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004. He noted that the City's budget will need to be increased <br />approximately $30,000 each successive year in order to finance under the current 50% City cost- <br />share and 50% property assessment policy. Staff will also make some projections of the needed <br />funding levels beyond 2004. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro tern Zimmerman requested information on the timing of street improvements. <br /> <br />City Council/January 25, 2000 <br /> Page 28 of 34 <br /> <br /> <br />
