HOUSING DIVERSITY <br /> <br />Most of the housing in Ramsey is single-family homes. The City will continue to work toward a <br />wider variety of housing types with the following general policy: <br /> <br />· Promote a variety of housing types, costs, and ownership options throughout Ramsey. These <br /> are to meet the life-cycle needs of all income levels, those with special needs and <br /> nontraditional households. <br />· The City has not specifically targeted any particular group in its housing efforts. <br /> <br />The City also adopts the following housing diversity policies and activities: <br /> <br />Ramsey will continue to provide dispersed locations for a diversity of housing styles, types, <br />and price ranges through its land use plan. <br />The City will make efforts to plan and provide for the housing and service needs of the <br />elderly and disabled. <br />Ramsey will encourage development of housing and services that meets the needs of <br />nontraditional households. <br />The City will regularly review and, as necessary, modify its zoning and subdivision <br />regulations, building codes, design standards and approval processes, to assure that <br />regulations and standards are flexible enough to allow a variety of housing options, and to <br />help lessen the cost of residential development and redevelopment. Issues and regulations <br />that Ramsey will review include: <br />0 The amount of undeveloped or underused land that the City has planned or zoned for <br /> medium or high density residential development. <br />0 Planned unit development (PUD), mixed-use and cluster development ordinances that <br /> include residential density bonuses. <br />0 The flexibility to use zero lot line development. <br />0 Minimum unit size or floor areas. <br /> Garage and off-street parking requirements <br />0 The use of private streets in developments. <br />0 Minimum right-of-way, pavement widths and standards for streets. <br /> Allowing accessory or mother-in-law apartments. <br /> <br /> <br />
