14311 Armstrong Blvd NW
Ramsey, MN 55303
(763) 421-3599
March 20, 2000

Mr. Jim Norman
Ramsey City Administrator
15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W
Ramsey, MN 55303

Dear Mr. Norman,
I would like to be a candidate for one of the vacancies on the Charter Commission for
the City of Ramsey. Therefore I am submitting this letter of interest/application to you.
As citizens we all know how to exercise freedoms very well. On a personal level, we
go about our daily activities without any overt concern about the rights that allow us to
exercise our freedoms. As Citizens we should not become complacent, taking for granted
the freedoms and rights guaranteed to us by our constitution. I believe strongly that
effective government relies on the willingness of its' citizens to become involved in
developing a healthy and strong democracy whether it is at the local, state or national
level. For these reasons, I am choosing to apply for the vacancy on the Charter
Commission.
I believe I have the shills needed to define and identify the many. different
components of public policy issues, to collect information concerning the benefits and ·
costs of these issues, attempt to forecast their impact on the public and communicate
ideas and findings effectively with respect for others.
I have an Associates degree in," Electronic Publishing / Information Specialist." I
also hold certificates in related fields including Production Artist, Electronic Publishing
for Related Fields, and Electronic Publishing Technician. I develop, design and market
promotional and operational materials for small business. I also work part time as head
cashier at a local business.
My husband and I have lived and voted in the city of Ramsey for the last nineteen
years. My three children have been raised in Ramsey. My family has been active as
participants, as well as in leadership roles in Boy Scouts and RYAA Baseball. As many
of you know, I attend and speak at city council meetings when I feel I have something to
contribute as well as something to be concerned about.
I am very active in my community as a volunteer for an organization called "Twin
Cities Retrouvaille". "]['win Cities Retrouvaille" is a marriage enrichment program started
and sponsored by the Catholic Church. I facilitate and coordinate the national
Retrouvaille phone lines several days a month and publisher the by- weekly bulletin.
I would like to thank you in advance for considering me as a candidate for the Ramsey
Charter Commission.

Sincerely,

Marguerite C Henke
