I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

Mayor Tom Garnet &
Ramsey City Council

Aprill2,2000

Re: Proposed Development-Flintwood Hills/Mallard Ponds

I am a homeowner living at 14138 Argon St. N.W.. I have attended all three meetings of the
Ramsey Planning Commission regarding the rezoning and preliminary, plat approval for the
undeveloped property just south of my home. I have helped Randy Backous (my next door neighbor)
~ ~ffing up a Fgn~voodtfi~ we~e (http://www.qeocities. c~m/flintwoodhills) ~at has
become a popular place to discuss this issue (over 450 hits since mid-March). I also was involved in
renting out a meeting room at the Ramsey City Hall on Saturday March 25, at which a number of my
neighbors got together for an inforrm_! neighborhood meeting. In addition, at various times throughout
this process a number of my neighbors have gotten together to discuss this issue. Basically, the
proposed Flintwood I-lills/Mallard Ponds development has resulted in a si~ificant increase in
neighborhood involvement of many of the people living along Argon, Barium, and Dysprosium
Streets.
From the first Planning Commission Meeting at which a large group of us 'expressed major
concerns over the development (especially the traffic impacts); to the last meeting at which the
Planning Commission finally was able to vote on a recommendation for the rezoning and
preliminary plat approval. I believe our neighborhood involvement ht~q had an impact on this
development.
The design alternative that the Planning Commission approved on April 4th has my fulI
support. This proposal, in which Argon St. and Barium St. remain dead-ends, and the new
development is accessed off of Dysprosh~m~ is a direct result of our input as a neighborhood. This
alternative resolves the traffic concerns on Argon and Barber% it haq the approval of the City En~neer,
and the approval of the Fire Chief. I feel confident tlm.t the majority of my neighbors feel the same
way.
Therefore, I ask at this time that you give thLq issue your full attention, and that you support the
wishes of my neighborhood and the recommendation of the Planning Commission. I would greatly
appreciate your comments regarding this issue, and look forward to attending the subsequent City
Council Meeting regarding final approval of this development.

Paul Miller
14138 Argon St. N.W.
Ramsey, MN.- 55303
(612) 576-9329
mailto: paultina-miller@excite, com

cc:CM Susan Anderson, CM Gerald Zimmerman, CM Terry Hendriksen, CM Margaret Connelly

195
