Brent Miller, 14135 Argon Street NW, Ramsey, stated that Argon Street has been a dead-end for fourteen years and will have a great impact on the area. He is opposed to the high density development, but would agree to something with a lower density including cul-de-sac's instead of through streets. Amy Erickson, 14101 Dysprosium Street, Ramsey, stated that she was opposed to the high density. She explained that until Commission members can witness what is happening on Dysprosium, they can't understand the problem. She stated that something needs to be done to slow traffic down on Dysprosium and is in favor of a senior development. The roads or the school district can't handle a high density development. Ms. Erickson requested that certain time restrictions be placed on building because several residents work nights. Sheila Freeman, 14068 Dysprosium Street NW, Ramsey, stated that there needs to be a better cop presence along Dysprosium. She explained that between C.R. #116 and Nowthen Boulevard the kids have to stay in a small area, because there is no where for them to go safely and requested that crosswalks be placed along C.R. #116. Kevin Shiels, 14089 Dysprosium Street NW, Ramsey, stated that in this neighborhood the issues are traffic and children and the main concern of the City of Ramsey should be the well being of the kids. The parks are not available for the kids in the area and the only way to help out the neighborhood is to use the land for a recreatio'n center, ball fields, basketball court etc. Bridgett Howard, Argon Street NW, Ramsey, stated that last summer she heard so many accidents at the intersection of I42na Avenue and T.H. #47 and with so many children in the area she is afraid that a child is going to cross T.H. 47 to get to the parks and end up getting hit by a car. As soon as Argon Street is opened, there will be a lot more traffic through the area because there are already several people attempting to use the street as a short cut. Chairperson Anderson replied that the matter of a traffic signal'at 142"d and T.H. #47 is outside of the scope of what the Commission is considering. City Engineer Jankowski stated that there was quite a controversy as to whether or not a signal would be placed at 142na Avenue, which MnDOT was not in favor of. With the proposed changes to the intersection, there will be a wide median to allow pedestrians to cross half way and wait for traffic. There was also some discussion regarding a pedestrian overpass; but the city was advised that most people, especially children, will use what is most expedient, crossing at grade. DeAnn Olson, 14045 Dysprosium Street NW, Ramsey, stated that the problem is the traffic. She explained that she currently has children that can't even go to the Ramsey school and have to be bused to Anoka when she is paying taxes in RamSey.
