CASE # REPORT FROM PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE By: Steve Jankowski, City Engineer Background: The Public Works Committee met on April 18, 2000, and considered all three cases listed on the prepared agenda. In addition, the fourth case was added and acted upon. Case#l: Consider Entering Into Traffic Control Signal Agreement No. 79972M with MnDOT for T.H. #47 STP Project (Improvement Project #98-14) This agreement defines responsibilities for the signals along T.H. #47 at the intersection with C.S.A.H. #5, 149th Avenue, and 153ra Avenue. The City's responsibilities beyond design and installation associated with the construction project include: · Providing and paying the monthly electrical service · Painting the mast arms on all three systems · Replacing the back lit street sign and streetlights on all three systems. · Revamping the signals at the 153rd and 149th systems. rd th · Painting control cabinets for the systems at 153 and 149 Avenues. This agreement is consistent with cra-rent inter agency policies for the maintenance of such signals. The committee recommended the City Council enter into the agreement contingent upon City Attorney review. Council Action: Adopt resolution authorizing entering into signal agreement 79972M. Case #2: Consider Entering int° Joint Powers Agreement with MnDOT for T.H. #47 STP Project (Improvement Project #98,14) This agreement provides for the payment to the City by the State of an amount not to exceed $500,000 as the State's share of the construction cost portion of the T.H. #47 STP project. The agreement also, commits the City to obtain access control through ~uture platting process for the eastern fight-of-way of the highway between Xkimo and t42"d Avenue. The committee recommended the City Council enter into MnDOT agreement 79736 contingent upon City Attorney review. Council Action: Adopt resolution authorizing entering into agreement 79736. 355
