Meeting with Sunwood Drive Residents
Thursday, July 6, 2000
5:30 p.m.

Residents attending:

Mike Marquart 14751 Germanium Street NW 422-1785
Joyce Kalstabakken 5571 Sunwood Drive NW 421-0831
Rollie & Kate Greenberg 14760 Erkium Street NW 576-0647
Mark & Deanna Wilson 14761 Erldum Street NW 427-6786
Jim Prody 14770 Flourine Street NW 323-7740
Landis Olson, Jr. 14770 Germanium Street NW 433-9467
Rob Utoft 14849 Flourine Street NW 427-8030
Steve & Mary Kay Tonsager 14771 Germanium Street NW 421-5076
Eric Mortenson 14750 Germardum Street NW 4214287
Carl Vowels 14479 Flourine Street NW
Bart & Mary Ashworth 14771 Erkium Street NW 506-0122
John & Polly VonArx 14770 Erkium Street NW 422-8849

What are the funding possibilities for an alternate for Sunwood Drive sidewalk?

City Staff explained that the direction of the meeting was to explore the possibility of sidewalks
on both sides of the street. The alternate route was a good idea but not in lieu of the sidewalk on
Sunwood Drive. In regards to funding, the City could not get Federal and/or Municipal State Aid
funding for a trail system that is not on a State Aid route.

Who will pay for sidewalks on both sides of the street?

At the time of the meeting, City Staffhad not gotten approval for a change order to the contract to
add sidewalk and additional trees to the north side.

At the beginning of the meeting, the residents realized that a sidewalk was going to
go in, and as long as it was going to be installed, they wanted to have some say in
where it went. They said they wanted a 4 foot sidewalk constructed on both sides of
the street right next to the curb.

After a lengthy discussion regarding the need for a boulevard for snow storage, boulevard trees,
ere, 3 out of the group wanted to stay with the original proposal with the sidewalk next to the curb.
City Staffbrought an illustration for the sidewalk and took numerous pictures of sidewalks in
additional area of the City and in Anoka to let the residents see what the finished product would
look like. The consensus of the group was that the boulevard should be from 3-5 feet and should
be decided on a block by block basis. This consensus was reached only if the residents were
allowed to work with the City during construction to ensure that relocation and replacement of
landscaping and trees are done to their satisfaction.

· What is going to happen to their irrigation systems? Can we have their own Sprinkler
Contractor complete the work and be issued a check for the cost?

City Staff explained that they would check on whether or not the funds would be reimbursable for
individual sprinkler systems in the ROW. As far as hiring their own Contractor, MSA funds would
not be eligible to issue check to the residents.

I

I
I
I
I

I
I
I
I

!
I

I

!
!
