Council member introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #11-02 - <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACQUISITION OF TAX FORFEIT PROPERTY FOR <br />RESIDENTIAL PURPOSES <br />WHEREAS, the West 140 feet of Outlot K, Ramsey Town Center 8 Addition, Anoka <br />County, Minnesota, PIN# 28- 32 -25 -21 -0036, has forfeited to the State of Minnesota for non - payment <br />of taxes (the "Subject Property "); and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey is fee owner and developer of residential property in <br />proximity to the Subject Property; and <br />WHEREAS, it appears to be in the best interest of the City to acquire the Subject Property to <br />further its orderly development of residential property in proximity to the Subject Property and to <br />better realize a return on the public funds expended by the City in acquiring much of the Ramsey Town <br />Center Addition's unimproved property; and <br />WHEREAS, the City recognizes that in order to acquire the Subject Property, it will need to <br />pay its market value as set by the Minnesota Department of Revenue. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br />1. The Mayor and City Administrator are hereby authorized to complete the application for a state <br />use deed and any other necessary paperwork to secure ownership of the Subject Property for <br />park purposes. <br />2. The Council hereby authorizes payment of the costs of acquisition and recording of the tax <br />deed, estimated at $15,000.00 and requires that any acquisition in excess of $15,000.00 shall <br />require additional City Council consideration and approval. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />and the following voted against the same: <br />and the following abstained: <br />and the following were absent: <br />Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council the <br />day of February, 2011. <br />ATTEST: <br />City Administrator <br />Mayor <br />
