When a city changes a precinct <br />boundary, the clerk must file a map showing the new <br />boundary with the secretary of state and notice of the <br />change must be posted in the clerk's office at least 60 days <br />before the change becomes effective. <br /> <br />Fire and police department statements <br /> <br />On or before March 15 each year, the clerk of each city that <br />has an organized fu:e department, or the secretary of each <br />independent nonprofit firefighting corporation having an <br />incorporated relief association, and the fzre chief, must jointly <br />certify the organization's existence to the commissioner of <br />revenue. The commissioner is responsible for forwarding this <br />information to the county auditor. If the commissioner of <br />revenue does not receive the certificate within the prescribed <br />time, the city or nonprofit fire fighting corporation could lose <br />all or part of its aid for the year. <br /> <br />Similarly, on or before March 15 each year, the clerk of each <br />city having an organized police department and an <br />incorporated relief association, must certify this fact to the <br />county auditor and to the commissioner of revenue. The clerk <br />must also certify to the commissioner the number of police <br />officers in the city. <br /> <br />Other duties <br /> <br />In addition to the above duties, the clerk must: <br /> <br />· Take and certify acknowledgments and administer oaths; <br /> <br />· Issue dog and kennel licenses, and enforce county licensing <br /> regulations if applicable; <br /> <br />187 <br /> <br /> <br />
