Councilmember Zimmerman thanked the County for installing the stop signs at C.R. #116 and
Dysprosium. He stated that he has some concern with the funding on the T.H. #47 project since
the total bill for the project will be 6.2 million dollars and the City will be responsible for 2.2
million. He questioned if the County is still participating with their portion of the project.

Commissioner Berg replied that nothing has changed with the County funding. He explained
that the intersection of C.R. #5 and T.H. #47 has been a planned County project for years, only
the scope of the project has changed considerably.

Councilmember Zimmerman inquired if the County's portion is a fixed cost or a percentage.

Commissioner Berg replied the County will be paying for their share of the cost for the
intersection of C.R. #5 and T.H. #47.

Councilmember Connolly questioned if the County will be paying 25% of the cost of the
intersection.

Commissioner Berg replied that $250,000..would be a good estimated figure, but he won't know
exactly until the bids come in.

Councilmember Connolly inquired if the project cost would go over $250,000, would the County
contribute additional funds.

Commissioner Berg replied that the County will pay for their share of the project.

County Engineer Jon Olson, stated that he has been working with the City on the project for a
long time and the cost is currently $267,577.90 for the intersection of C.R. #5 and T.H. #47 and
Eighty percent of that amount is eligible for federal funding so the remainder would be the
County's share totaling approximately $55,000. Instead of the 2.2 million dollars originally
applied for from federal funding, the number would be increased to 3.160 million.

Councilmember Hendriksen questioned why there is a total project cost of 6.8 million dollars.

County Engineer Olson replied that the City put the application and project together and had to
obtain right-of-ways which is why the costs are higher.

Councilmember Hendriksen stated that the amount of funding from the County is continually
changing. He originally heard the County was putting in $250,000, then the amount was reduced
to $50,000, and then the City was told the County would contribute the full $250,000 if certain
deadlines were met.

Commissioner Berg replied that, based on the figures presented years ago, the project was
estimated at 2.280 million dollars. More money has since been made available from the federal
government than was anticipated.

City Council/November 23, 1999
