I
I
I
!
I

I
I
I

Case #11:

Closed Discussion: Consider Actions on Various Parcels Associated with
Highway #47 Land Acquisitions

This item was tabled.

MAYOR AND COUNCIL INPUT

1. Assistant City Administrator/Administrative Services Manager Position

City Administrator Norman stated that PDI has completed their review of resumes received for
the Assistant City Administrator/Administrative Services Manager position and requested that
extended resumes be sent out to 15 candidates.

Councilmember Connolly stated that she would be interested in personality type rather than
experience background only. She stated that she would rather spend a little more time with the
hiring process and would like to review the resumes herself.

Councilmember Anderson stated that they should not consider an Assistant City Administrator
without a degree.

Councilmember Hendriksen stated that they could be overlooking qualified individuals by only
looking for a degree.

Councilmember Connolly stated that she would like a list of what PDI uses for criteria.

City Administrator Norman suggested sending out the extended resume to everyone on the list.

Councilmember Anderson stated that the list appears that they concentrated only on personnel
experience.

Councilmember Hendriksen stated that originally it was discussed to combine the positions
because they had a candidate in mind, but thinks they should look at a wider range and tailor the
position to a candidate.

Councilmember Connolly requested information on PDI's process and why people were
eliminated.

City Administrator Norman explained that PDI looks at education, experience, personnel, public
sector experience, and supervision.

City Council/November 23, 1999
