This site is on the inside of a
curve and up a slight incline which creates unsafe sight distance to the south. There is also
no shoulder in this area which only increases chances for serious incidents occurring.

The Telecommunications Act (Section 253) does not affect states' authority to
"impose...requirements necessary to preserve public safety" or to "manage the public
rights-of-way" when authorizing telecommunication pole sites. We recommend the city
encourage U.S. West to find a site location with safer access. If you have any additional
questions regarding these traffic safety issues, please contact Lars Impola in our Traffic
section at (612)797-3126.

If you have any additional questions regarding this review, please contact me at (651)582-1468.

Sincerely,

Sharon Anderson
Transportation Planner / Local Government Liaison

An equal opportunity employer
