t Metropolitan Council <br />Use Metropolitan <br />Council regional <br />housing needs <br />projections <br />By law, the comprehensive plan must include a housing element and <br />implementation program that address existing and projected housing <br />needs. The housing plan: <br />• acknowledges the community's share of the region's need for <br />low- and moderate - income housing <br />• includes an implementation section identifying the programs, <br />fiscal devices, and official controls the community will use to <br />address their housing needs <br />The comprehensive plan may include an assessment of current <br />housing stock and goals, policies and programs to assist the <br />municipality in decision - making regarding the preservation of its <br />current housing stock and the development of new units. <br />The Metropolitan Council has determined the regional and local need <br />for low and moderate income housing in the decade beginning 2011. <br />Figures reflecting each municipality's share of the region's need for <br />additional low and moderate income housing for 2011 through 2020 <br />are available on the Council's website. <br />Local Planning Handbook 1 Section 3.
