Case #11: Adopt Ordinance Change Name of Fire Board to Public Safety Board It was noted that the ordinance to change the name of the Fire Board to the Public Safety Board was being presented for final adoption. A question was raised relating to the number of members who would be serving on the Public Safety Board. Mayor Gamec recessed the regular Council meeting at 8:03 p.m. Mayor Gamec called the regular Council meeting back to order at 8:12 p.m. City Attorney Goodrich stated that the ordinance and the City Charter section places a limit to not exceed nine members, two-thirds of which must be Ramsey Residents. Staff is recommending seven n:embers and then a recommendation will be brought forward as to who the seven members would be. The adoption of this ordinance would establish the name change and its functions and add members of the Police Department along with the Fire Department making it public safety as opposed to Fire Board. Motion by Coun¢ilmember Beahen and 'Seconded by Councilmember Haas Steffen to adopt Ordinance #98-17 changing the name and function of the Fire Board to the Public Safety Board. Case #12: Report from Finance Committee i I I 1) Review and Adopt 1999 Tax Levy and General Fund Budget Motion by Councilmember Haas Steffen and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to adopt Resolution #98-12-298 adopting the 1998, payable 1999 Municipal Tax Levy. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Haas Steffen, Beyer, Beahen and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. Motion by Councilmember Haas Steffen and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to adopt Resolution #98-t2-299 adopting the 1999 City of Ramsey General Fund Operating Budget.
