Norman, City Administrator
Dean Kapler, Director of Public Works

Mark Boos, Parks/Utilities Supervisor

The Anoka County Parks Department is in the process of submitting revisions for approval of the
Regional Trail Plan of Metropolitan Council's Parks and Open Space Commission. The trail
along County Road #116 has been lobbied for by the cities of Ramsey and Anoka for many
years. This is shown on the inserted map as the Central Anoka County Regional Trail, beginning
at Mississippi West Park, traversing east past Bunker Hills into Ham Lake.

Anoka County is asking Ramsey's City Council to support the addition of the Central Anoka
County Trail into the regional system by adopting a resolution to show support of this trail will
not obligate Ramsey to provide funding for construction or operations and maintenance.
Adoption of the trail by Metropolitan Council will, however, make it eligible for funding by this
same entity.

A resolution supporting the trail is attached. If City Council desires further discussion on this
matter, they may vote to have it brought back to the February 9, 1999 meeting. This would
allow us to meet the timeline for the Metropolitan Council receipt of this request.

@shared/parks/Mctrail
