Equipment overall <br />has been holding up well with a few minor repairs (see Equipment Update) A great deal of focus <br />was put on maintaining roadways rather than just snow removal. Minutes of the PW monthly <br />meeting are attached to this report. <br /> <br />Training <br />Training involving Blood Borne Pathogens and Personal Protective Equipment was completed on <br />January 20, and was well received by all. The next scheduled training session is on March 17th <br />involving Confined Space Awareness. <br /> <br />Safety Concerns <br />Monthly meeting brought out the following items of discussion: <br /> -Better warning lights for vehicles <br /> -The issue of plow drivers driving into private driveways <br /> -Providing welding screens for PW shop <br /> -Insurance Packets in all vehicles <br /> -Discussion of steel toed shoes <br /> <br />Street Sign Update <br />A new size and style street sign was installed at 153 and Nowthen Blvd. Grant has asked for <br />input on the sign, unfortunately has only received one reply which was positive. The sign issue <br />will be brought to the PW committee as a discussion topic in February. <br /> <br />Misc. Issues <br />The possibility of a gate opener installed at the rear of the PW property was discussed. <br />The confiscated bikes will be sold at the Pet Clinic/Tree Sale this spring. <br />Dean is working on the Old Town Hall Project, <br />Grant did a short presentation on reacting to an OSHA visit. <br />PW will establish a Petty Cash account at the PW site for small purchases. <br /> <br />Capital Equipment Purchases for 1999 <br />Discussions about the process and timeline of the equipment purchases was completed. <br /> <br />Streets Update <br />A list of snow removal complaints has been discussed with PW staff and PW committee <br />members. <br />Contractors for spring street sweeping have been contacted for quotes. <br />Grader specs are near completion. Purchase plan should be ready for 2/23/99 council meeting. <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Update <br />Water meter repairs average aprox 30 per month with 15 installations of new. <br />Well fl4 still is experiencing a flow switch problem. <br />Software for as-built drawings and eventually storm sewer drawings will be received shortly. <br />Ice rinks have been kept in good condition despite the needed efforts in snow removal. <br /> <br />Engineering <br />Streets improvement plan for $380,000 is prepared for implementation. <br />Study for #116 between Hwy 47 and Sunfish Lake Blvd is on a high priority. <br />144 and Tungsten site lines will be completed as part of the traffic control request. <br /> <br />Dean Kapler <br /> <br /> <br />
