PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
CITY OF RAMSEY

The Ramsey Public Works Department conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, January 26,
1999, at the Public Works Building, 14100 Jaspar St. NW, Ramsey, Minnesota.

CALL TO ORDER

Dean called the meeting of the Public Works Department to order at 8:00 a.m. In attendance was
Dean Kapler, Greg Talbot, Grant Reimer, Brian Ihnot, Mich Stenquist, Jeremy Anderson, Mark
Boos, Jim Lacey, John Nelson, and Lee Hollom.

The meeting date will have to change due to a conflict in Administrative Services. The
drawback to having it on Tuesday is that Dean is not able to give a council update. The
consensus was to have the meetings on the fourth Thursday.

TRAINING

Comments on the training, Blood Borne Pathogens and Personal Protection Equipment were
good. The instructor gave the industrial perspective vs the emergency services perspective.
More information for the newer staffwould have been helpful.

The next training will be Confined Space Awareness on March 17th.

SAFETY CONCERNS

Light equipment on the new one tone truck should be reviewed for better visibility. The
DOT would be able to tell the Department what colors can be used.

Plow drivers should not drive into homeowner's driveways. This could cause a liability issue
with cracks or other damage to the driveway. Part-time employees should be informed of
this also.

· Welding screens should be used to protect the eyes. They are available in canvass or stand
up partitions. Grant will check into the costs.

· Insurance packets should have been distributed for all the vehicles.

· Discussion ensued as whether steel toed shoes should be required.

TABLE AND CHAIRS PURCHASE

Two six foot tables and chairs will be ordered. Chairs with wheels would be preferred.

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
i
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I,
I
