She stated the applicants are requesting the additional square footage to construct a building
to store the applicant's motorhome, boats and other property.

Associate Planner Geisler further advised the proposed detached accessory building will comply
with all of the setback requirements and accessory structure height restrictions established in City
Code. City Code requires accessory structures to match the finish material on the dwelling or
have metal panels that are color compatible. She noted the applicants' home is stucco, so the
applicant is proposing vinyl or hardboard siding for the accessory structure that will be the same
color as the home. She indicated Staff recommends granting the request for conditional use
permit.

Public Hearing
Motion by Commissioner Brauer, seconded by Commissioner Shepherd to close the public
hearing at 7:32 p.m.

Motion carried. He stated the Planning
Commission chose to deal with these as a conditional use permit rather than a variance. He
agreed they see a lot of them in the summer, and they can look at the numbers again.

Motion by Commissioner Watson, seconded by Commissioner Brauer to recommend that City
Council adopt findings of fact relating to Gerald and Karen Schmidt's request for a conditional
use permit to exceed accessory building size requirements on the property at 15243 Yakima
Street NW.

Motion carried.
