Section 9.50
establishes the requirements and standards for subdivision of land. The final adoption of the
proposed amendments to Section 9.50 was delayed to coincide with adoption of the Tree
Preservation Ordinance. The reason for the delay is that it was fairly certain that the preliminary
and final plat submittal requirements in Section 9.50 would need to be modified based on the
outcome of the Tree Preservation ordinance and the requirements it places on new development.
On August 12, 2003, the tree preservation ordinance was adopted. The necessary changes to
Section 9.50, based on the tree preservation ordinance, have been incorporated into the proposed
ordinance. On July 22, 2003, the City Council introduced an ordinance to amend Section 9.14
(Solid Waste) of City Code. That ordinance was listed on the August 12 Council agenda for
adoption, however, it was erroneously omitted from the case enclosures. In accordance with the
City Charter, the ordinances were eligible for adoption. City staff recommended adoption of the
ordinances.

Motion by Councilmember Kurak, seconded by Councilmember Elvig, to adopt Ordinance #03-
38 to amend Section 9.14 (Solid Waste) of Chapter 9 of the Ramsey City Code and adopt
Ordinance #03-39 to amend Section 9.50 (Subdivision) of Chapter 9 of the Ramsey City Code.

A roll call vote was performed by the Recording Secretary:

Councilmember Kurak aye
Councilmember Cook aye
Councilmember Zimmerman aye
Councilmember Pearson aye
Councilmember Elvig aye
Councilmember Strommen aye

City Council/August 26, 2003
