KIDE-ALONGS:

3 members participated in a total of 18 hours of ride-along with licensed officers. This is primarily a learning
experience for them and is meant to increase their skills and knowledge of what the police deparmaent does. Within
their authority, they assist full-time officers as needed.

YOUTH ACTIVITIES:

On 02-19-99, the police department held it's BI-annual "KID CARE" PHOTO ID / FINGERPRINTING program at
Ramsey Elementary during the PTA Anniversary / Spaghetti Dinner activity. DARE Officer Cheryl Hassel and
PSA Laurie Swadner were present and were assisted by (6) PSA volunteers, donating a total of 20.5 hrs.
Approximately 150 kids were fingerprinted and photographed.

2 Public Safety Aides participated in a total of 13 hours at the Ramsey Community School "Teen Night" program.
Volunteers work with the staff and to interact with the kids. This continues to be a great public relations program.

YOUTH / COMMUNITY POLICING ACTIVITIES:

On 02-24-99, PSA Don Bishop organized a Ramsey Area Youth Workers Meeting, which was attended to by 4
community youth leaders, PSA Bishop, PSA Sharon Johnson, Chief Gustafson, Corporal Tim Dwyer, and Mayor
Tom Gamec. The meetings vision was to increase awareness of community programs for youth by connecting
Ramsey area youth workers with the Ramsey Police Departtnent. The purpose of the meeting was to encourage our
area youth workers; to become informed about opportunities within our community for our youth; and to glean
information form professional youth workers, which may be useful for our law enforcement officers in dealing with
the youth. The one-hour meeting lasted 3.5 hours and was very enlightening and encouraging for all. In the coming
months, additional meetings and research will be done. A total of 9 PSA hours were donated for this activity.

PSA Don Bishop also assisted the police department by acting as a Liaison in a neighborhood juvenile delinquency
problem brought to our attention by a concerned parent. Bishop looked into the problem and spoke with the
involved mother. Through his network of youth workers, he made some applicable referrals. Those involved were
pleased with the outcome. 2 hfs volunteer time.

PATROL ACTMTY STATISTICS

INCIDENT REPORTS - TRAFFIC

ARRESTS

TYPE

DWI

CURRENT LAST CURRENT LAST
MONTH MONTH YTD YTD

3 12 15 12

GROSS DWI 5 1 6 6
SPEED 13 8 21 44

RV TRAFFIC
ATV
SNOWMOBILE

RV TRESPASSING
ATV
SNOWMOBILE

1 0 1 2
0 40 40 37

2 1 3 3
5 20 25 34

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
i
I
I
I
I
I
