Selection <br />City Administrator Norman reports there was an open recruitment process for the position of <br />Administrative Intern in 1998. Two postings were provided to Mankato State University and <br />Hamline University. Two applications were received, and both candidates were interviewed. <br />Mr. Norman is satisfied with Ms. Petrangelo's performance and recommends the City retain her <br />in the reclassified position of regular status, full-time Administrative Assistant. <br /> <br />Time Spent Profile (TSP) <br />Ramsey has used Personnel Decisions Inc. to provide a job evaluation system to measure skill, <br />effort, responsibility and working conditions for all classes of employees. There is no <br />benchmark available for a TSP value for Administrative Assistant. Staff will be evaluating this <br />position and making recommendations to either slot an appropriate job point value, or will make <br />recommendations to Council at a future date to request a review by PDI to determine job point <br />value. <br /> <br />Job Description <br />Staff has prepared and attached a job description for an Administrative Assistant for Council <br />consideration, provided the reclassification is approved. This position is proposed as Exempt <br />(not eligible for overtime) "confidential employee," and not covered by the union. <br /> <br />Probational. Period <br />This position would serve a one year probationary period. Mr. Norman is requesting, Ms. <br />Petrangelo be provided with one week (40 hours) of"banked" vacation time on the effective date <br />of this reclassification. <br /> <br />Ms. Petrangelo has requested she be granted Fridays off in order to attend a class for her <br />Doctoral work. Ms. Petrangelo understands, if reclassified, she will be required to work a <br />minimum of 40 hours per week. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Based on the City Administrator's recommendation, authorize the reclassification of the <br />position of Administrative Intern (temporary) to full-time regular Administrative Assistant. <br />Based on the previous hiring process conducted for the position of Administrative Intern, the <br />further authorize the selection of existing Administrative Intern Melissa Petrangelo as the <br />Full-time Regular Administrative Assistant. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion, based on Committee discussion and City Administrator's recommendation, to authorize <br />reclassification from temporary Administrative Intern to regular, full-time Administrative <br />Assistant. <br /> <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br />$1 <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> <br /> <br />
