BYI Y /S <br /> OF <br />THE METROPOLITAN LAaND IJ.,E ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br /> <br />PURPOSE BaND NAME <br /> <br />The Metropolitan Land Use Advisory Committee (hereinafter the "Land Committee" or <br />"committee'') is established pursuant to Laws 1976, Chapter 127, Section 3. The-Land- <br />Committee is appointed by and empowered to act and assist the Metropolitan Council <br />(hereinafter the "Council") to accomplish the respons~'b/Iities delegated to it by Iaw or <br />the Council with regard to comprehensive land planning and review for the Twin Cities <br />MetrOpolitan Area, comprised of the counties of Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, <br />Ramsey, Scott and Washington. The committee shah undertake and:have re~onsibility <br />with respect to the follow/ng duties and such others as are fi-om time to time delegated <br />by the Council: <br /> <br />A. Metropolitan Land Planning Responsibilities <br /> <br />To advise the Council and make recommendations in preparing <br />guidelines for implementing the Land Planning Act which will <br />assist local governments and school districts. <br /> <br />To assist the Council in preparing guidelines, for metropolitan <br />systems statements required of the Council in Section 5 of the law <br />in order that they be simple, clear and useful to local governments <br />and a vehicle for relaying metropolitan systems information. <br /> <br />To advise and make recommendations, to the Council on a <br />procedure for conducting hear/rigs on contested metropolitan <br />systems statements or parts thereof as specified in Section 7 of the <br />law. <br /> <br />To advise and make recommendations to the Council on <br />establishing criteria and procedures for disbursement of planning <br />assistance grants and repayment of loans as required of the <br />Council in Section 18 of the law to review and monitor the grant <br />administration procedures. <br /> <br />Il. Metronolitan Significance Responsibilities <br /> <br />To review and adv/se the Council in the rev/sion of regulations for <br />the review of matters of metropolitan significance and process for <br />conducting reviews of those matters that are of significance. <br /> <br />To assist the Council as necessary, but at least biennially in <br />reviewing the effectiveness and operation of the regulations. <br /> <br /> <br />
