PERSONNEL COMMITTEE
CITY OF RAMSEY
ANOKA COUNTY
STATE OF MINNESOTA

The Ramsey Personnel Committee conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, June 8, 1999, at the
Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota.

Members Present:

Mayor Thomas Gamec
Councilmember Susan E. Anderson

Also Present:

City Administrator James E. Norman
Administrative Services Manager Joyce Pruitt Hottinger
Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Dean Kapler

CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Gamec called the regular meeting of the Personnel Committee to order at 6:57 p.m.

CITIZEN INPUT

There was none.

COMMITTEE BUSINESS

Case #1: Classify (Temporary) Transcriptionist Position to Regular Status (Part-
Time) Public Safety Aide

Administrative Services Manager Pruitt Hottinger stated that on May 25, 1999 City Council
authorized the $491.68 required for funding for PERA contributions necessary for the proposed
reclassification from temporary Police Transcriptionist to regular status part-time Public Safety
Aide. She noted this proposal is for the formal reclassification of the temporary, Police
Transcriptionist position to a regular status, part-time position of Public Safety Aide. The
current Public Safety Aide Laurie Swadner reduced her hours significantly and Ms. Meier, a
temporary status Police Transcriptionist, has temporarily filled in this capacity since the
beginning of the year. The 1999 approved budget already reflects the required hourly wage
funding for this reclassified position. Ms. Pruitt Hottinger stated that staff recommends
authorizing the reclassification of the position of Police Transcriptionist (temporary) to part-time,
regular status, Police Public Safety Aide and, based on the previous hiring process conducted for
the position of Police Transcriptionist, further authorizes the selection of existing Police
Transcriptionist Kellie Meier as the part-time, regular status, Public Safety Aide.

Mayor Gamec tabled the item for clarification with the Police Chief regarding the position.

Personnel Committee/June 8, 1999
