Process and Details in the Joint Advertising/Testing Process <br />The process, previously used successfully in the past and like the one proposed, is <br />outlined below: <br />> Advertising. As Council may recall, the MPRS Court Order specified certain <br /> minority advertising sources to be used to reach minority applicants for police officer <br /> recruitment. These specified advertisements will be used and affidavits of publishing <br /> will be obtained for proper documentation. It is estimated that the cost of advertising <br /> for this process will cost approximately $250.00 per participating jurisdiction. <br /> <br />Each City wilt be responsible for preparing a one page summary sheet on their police <br />department for applicants to pick up on the test date. This summary sheet will not <br />include salary or benefits information. <br /> <br />Job Line. A job line will be established for applicants to call to pre-register by <br />leaving their name, address, telephone number and other pertinent information.. The <br />job line will be checked daily and affidavits will be prepared verifying the <br />information taken off the job line is correct. A cut off date on accepting pre- <br />registrations will be provided. One participating city will be responsible for mailing <br />out a one page informational sheet on the location, time, date and other pertinent <br />information relating to the test from the list of applicants. <br />Cost of PDI test. Applicants will be charged to cover the PDI test cost. PDI has <br />quoted a price of $17.00 per applicant. Payment by check or cash will be received on <br />the test date at the testing location. Applicants who present insufficient funds checks <br />will be withdrawn fi.om the results score list. <br />Test Date. The test date is scheduled for November 13, 1999 at Blaine High School. <br />If Ramsey is to participate, it is anticipated that Ramsey will provide, at a minimum, <br />two staff members to assist in proctoring the test. Any police officers present to assist <br />with proctoring the test will be required to be in uniform. <br />Reconciliation. Completed tests and the money paid by applicants, will be <br />personally delivered to PDI on the following Monday. Exam results are anticipated <br />within two weeks. It is important to note that PDI will provide all test results. There <br />are no cut scores with this test. <br /> <br />Committee Recommendation: <br /> <br />Motion to recommend to City Council to authorize the City of Ramsey to participate in a <br />joint testing process with Blaine and other cities to perform advertising and PDI-LEAP <br />testing, with associated advertising costs and staffing to be shared equally among all <br />participating cities. <br /> <br />Council Recommendation: <br /> <br />Motion to authorize the City of Ramsey to authorize the City of Ramsey to participate in <br />a joint testing process with Blaine and other cities to perform advertising and PDI-LEAP <br /> <br /> <br />
