This ordinance was presented earlier this evening for formal adoption. The procedure
to add more precincts is adoption of a resolution that includes the description of boundary lines
of precincts, the polling places, and the effective date. Included with this case is a resolution that
contains the information required. Following adoption of such resolution, staff will execute it
and send a certified copy to the Secretary of State and to the Anoka County Elections
Department.

The resolution requests adding three more precincts, making a total of eight for the City of
Ramsey. A map of the proposed boundary lines was sent out to Council in September. Staff has
taken the precinct map to Anoka County GIS to request a map showing the precinct boundaries,
the polling places, the school districts, etc. The map may not be available for Tuesday night,
however, it is basically the same map that Council received in September. Staff will be prepared
to bring a "home-drawn" boundary maplto t,het~table.

Council Action:

Motion to adopt Resolution #99-10-XXX expanding the number of voting precincts in the City
of Ramsey.

Reviewed by:

Deputy City Clerk
City Administrator
City Attorney

CC: 10/26/99
