CASE #

PUBLIC HEARING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF
MISSISSIPPI RIVER STORMWATER SUBDRAINAGE DISTRICT NO. 1
By: Steve Jankowski, City Engineer

Background:

Lowell Zitsloff submitted to the City a site plan for the vacant property between JR's Saloon and
the Parabody facility, which was subsequently approved contingent upon the installation of
storm sewer. The Parabody building has had chronic drainage problems resulting in the
recurring flooding of their dock areas. On September 28, 1999, the City Council directed the
establishment of a subdrainage district so that a comprehensive plan could be prepared to address
the needs of the area bounded by the railroad tracks on the north, the eastern City limits on the
east, the north right-of-way of Highway #10 on the south, and the east fight-of-way of C.R. #57
on the west. This area is to be known as the Mississippi River Stormwater Subdistrict No. 1. A
feasibility study for the drainage of this subdistrict is being prepared, and it is anticipated that a
plan will be ready for submittal to the Council at the meeting.

Council Action:

Motion to introduce an ordinance creating Mississippi River Stormwater Subdrainage District
No. 1.

and

Motion to adopt Resolution #99-11- receiving the feasibility study and setting a date for
the public hearing on the proposed improvements.

Reviewed by:

City Administrator
City Attorney
Director of Public Works

CC: 11/09/99

\\RA_FSI\VOLI \users\City Shared File\ENGINEER\99-67 Miss Rvr S/rm~¥tr Subdrainage Dist #1\110999CC.do¢
