City Administrator Norman suggested advertising the Administrative Services Manager, <br />Community Development Director, and Assistant City Administrator. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen suggested an ad stating that the City of Ramsey has multiple <br />openings due to its continuous growth and that the City is willing to organize a position around <br />highly qualified candidates looking for the challenge. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec replied that they would receive a better response if three specific ads were run. <br /> <br />Councilmember Connolly inquired if applicants that have previously applied for positions are <br />still on file. <br /> <br />Administrative Services Manager Pruitt Hottinger replied yes, and noted that a letter could be <br />sent to the applicants notifying them of the current openings. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson questioned if the Council felt it necessary to hire a consultant to assist <br />the City with organizing the Community Development Department. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen replied that he would be willing to discuss the issue further during a <br />work session. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that they need to get the ads out because the hiring process can be lengthy <br />and then the Council can discuss the organization of the Community Development department. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Councilmember Anderson, to table the item. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Councilmember Hendriksen stated that he likes the idea of paying a <br />consultant based on their performance and requested that the City Administrator present that <br />option to consultants. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec and Chairperson Anderson. Voting No: None. <br />Absent: None. <br /> <br />Case #4: <br /> <br />Authorization to Fill Vacancy in Administrative Services Manager Position <br /> <br />Administrative Services Manager Pruitt Hottinger inquired if the Council wanted to run three <br />separate ads for the vacancies or one large generic ad. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec replied that people may have good backgrounds in different areas, but may think <br />they are only qualified in one area. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that he would like to see an ad that describes Ramsey as a <br />rapidly growing City, having multiple openings in administrative services, planning, and <br />assistant administration, and that the City has a great deal of flexibility for the successful <br /> <br />Personnel Committee/October 12, 1999 <br /> Page 5 of 9 <br /> <br /> <br />
