EDA #5 BUSINESS APPRECIATION DAY GOLF TOURNAMENT AND DINNER Prepared by: Community Development Assistant Scan Wa!ther Background: It has been past practice for the Ramsey Economic Development Commission to host a business appreciation event that includes a golf tournament and a dinner for Ramsey businesses. Until last year, the event location traditionally alternated between Rum River Hills Golf Course and The Links at Northfork. Due to changes in City staff, the Mayor chose to return to Rum River Hills for the second year in a row in 1998. This year the Mayor and Community Development Assistant have been negotiating with both locations, but with the expectation that we would hold the event at The Links at Northfork in 1999. At the March 9, 1999 EDA meeting a concern was raised regarding the cost of catering the dinner at the Links, and regarding the date of the tournament as it may conflict with J.R.'s Saloon and Food's annual golf tournament. The EDA directed City staff to solicit bids from Rum River Hills and McDuff's Restaurant, and from J.R's Saloon and Food. Observations: The costs of the golf tournament and dinner at each of the locations and for each of the caters is compared and detailed in the table below. New York $5 prize fund & range balls Strip Steak Dinner Strip Steak Dinner & Chicken Dinners available $55.00/ea. $20.00/ea. $17.95/ea. Rum River Hills Includes: green fees, cart ~ McDuff's Golf Course fees, $3.00 prize fund 8 oz. Sirloin Steak Dinner $42.00/ea. $11.20/ea. The total cost at Rum River Hills would be $53.20 per person. The total cost at Northfork would be either $72.95 or $75.00 per person depending on the location of the dinner. To be fair, please note the steak dinners are large New York Strips for Northfork and a more modest Sirloin at McDuff's.
