Ot~DINANCE #O0-XX <br /> <br /> CITY OF P,.A_MSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />AN AMENDMENT TO CHAPTEP.. 9 WHICH IS KNOWN AS THE ZONING AND <br />SUBDIVISION OF LAND CHAPTER OF THE CITY CODE OF RA~ISEY, <br />MINNESOTA. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE <br />IMPROVEMENTS" <br />MINNESOTA. <br /> <br />A~¢ENDING SECTION 9.50.50 "CONSTRUCTION OF <br />OF CHAPTER 9 OF THE CITY CODE OF R.A~SEY, <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey ordains: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. PURPOSE <br /> <br />The City recognizes that trails or sidewalks within the road right-of-ways in urban areas serve an <br />important transportational purpose, that these wails enhance safety for pedestrians and children, <br />that removing non-motorized transportation fi.om street surfaces may reduce the need for <br />residential stop signs on interior 'intersections, and as a result, increase efficiencies to the <br />motoring public. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. AMENDMENT <br /> <br />Section 9.50.50 (Construction of Improvements), Subd. 2(a)(1) (Stage I Improvements) shall be <br />amended to add the following: -' <br /> <br />(o) Sidewalks <br /> <br />Section 9.50.50 (Construction of Improvements), Subd. 3(b) (Stage I Improvements)'shall be <br />amended to add the following: <br /> <br />Sidewalks. All subdivisions within the urban service area shall have a minimum <br />eight-foot (8') wide bituminous or concrete' sidewalk paralleling each street to <br />provide for effective snow removal and safe two-way pedestrian traffic. The only <br />urban subdivision streets that may not be required to have these trails are residential <br />cul-de-sacs with no probability as a through street. The trail shall be cofistmcted as <br />a Stage I improvement. The cost will be borne by the developer and not eligible for <br />credit against park and trail dedication fees. The design must meet current <br />standards o£ the City, comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and <br />be shown on the preliminary plat for approval. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. EFFECTIVE DATE <br /> <br />This ordinance becomes effective upon its passage and thirty (30) days after its publication <br />according to law, subject to City Charter Provision, Section 5.04. <br /> <br /> <br />
