Commbsioner Ostrum questioned if the creek currently had a name. currently called ditch ~/ (?). Iv~". Boos stated that it is Chairperson Cook stated that he liked the name of Elmcrest because of the history of the land that was explained in the letter by George and Rose Marie Steiner. Chairperson Cook questioned if' the creek should have the same name. Mr. Boos stated the park and the creek do not have to heve the same name, but he thought it would be a good idea. Chairperson Cook stated tb~at be liked Elmcrest Park and Plum Creel Commissioner LaMere stated they should use consistency with the park and the creel Mr. Boos suggested verifying the history is accurate if the Commission selects Elmerest as the park name. Commissioner Asfahl stated that the winner should receive some kind of recognition. Commissioner Johns suggested having Oak Creek Park as a second option if the history is not true regarding Elmerest. Motion by Commissioner Johns, and seconded by Commissioner Asfahl, to recommend to the City Council approval of Elmcrest Park as the name for Community Park #5 and Elmerest Stream for the creek if the history is accurate. Motion carded. Voting Yes: Chair Cook, Commissioners Johns, Asfzhl, LaMerc, 0strum and Rolfe. Voting No: None. Absent: Droegemueller. Case #3: Playground Project Planning Mr. Boos explained that Northern States Gas is running a pipeline from Andover to Elk River which nme through Urban Park and Shawn Acres Park so the company is buying additional easements from property owners. He noted that most of the land is undeveloped, but explained that he will be sending out his recommendation to property owners as to things he would like to be done. Mr. Boos noted that Nonhero States Gas has offered $28,000 for additional easements on park property and he is thinking of'rolling $20,000 of the money into the Playground Project. Chairperson Cook stated that he feels the easement money should be g/yen to the park since it is impacting park property. Mr. Boos stated that he will talk to the City Administrator. Commissioner Ostmm suggested tabling the item until more information can be received regarding the easement funds. Commissioner Asfahl suggested to continue working on leads for donations in case the money will not be available for the project.
