CASE #2

NAME COMMUNITY PARK NO. 5
By: Mark Boos, Parks/Utilities Supervisor

Background:

After acquisition of what until then was referred to as Ramsey's fifth community park, the Park
Commission sponsored a name-the-park challenge. This request to propose names was
advertised in the Ramsey Resident newsletter, on QCTV, and at the Environmental Expo.

At the regular Park and. Recreation Commission meeting in May, the Commission ranked the
names, choosing "Elmcrest" Park pending staff verification of some historical documentation of
the "Elmcrest" name. If there was no historical reference, the second choice was Oak Brook
Park. Attached is a letter from the proposer of the preferred name.

Also attached is the resolution regarding public facility naming recommended by the Park
Commission and adopted in 1991. The purpose of this case is to recommend City Council
formally name "Elmcrest" Park.

Commission Action:

Motion to name "Elmcrest" Park.

Reviewed by:
Parks/Utilities Supervisor
City Administrator
Director of Public Works

PR: 10/14/99

Copies also Distributed to:
