Prep _work:
Get things cooking

Now that we've whet your appetite for fund-raising,
it's time to get the whole community craving a new
playground.
Assembling a reliable group of campaign volunteers
is the first step. A motivated crew will keep the juices
flowing throughout and keep things fresh and fun.
Once you've assembled the team, work toward
dividing the duties evenly- no individuals should be
asked to take too much.on their plates.

Every kitchen ncccls a chef
The first task at hand is to select a project leader to
plan the menu for the fund-raising feast. This cam-
paign chef will spearhead menu planning and will
keep the workload balanced. A successful campaign
'doesn't require a gourmet at the outset; just pick an
organizer who will have the drive to keep all pots
boiling.

'1
I

I
I
I

Assemble the Service staff
Turn up the heat with a volunteer recruitment
night. Spread the word through your community's
media and send notices home to parents with school-
children. Try to personally contact as many potential
volunteers as possible.
You'll need to have several'"appetizers" when the
meeting rolls around. Plan to offer the following
services at the first session:

[] Have your KOMPAN catalog on hand to shoxv the
volunteers what they will be working toward.

[] Have an educator discuss the benefits of play.

I
I
I
I

Ask your KOMPAN play consultant to present
information about the benefits your new KOMPAN
play equipment will bring tO the community.

Discuss the merits'of volunteer installation of the
playground. A community installation will save
thousands of dollars in installation fees and can be
performed in one day.

[] Ask volunteers for add~-esses and phone numbers.
