RAMSEY FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> BODY SPECIFICATIONS <br /> <br />Apparatus Compartments <br />GENERAL BODY DETAILS <br /> <br />Fenders to be integral with the side of the body compartments with sufficient clearance to allow <br />for use of tire chains with the apparatus fully loaded. Running boards, rub rails, and rear step <br />shall be flanged 3" down and 1" in to form a channel edge and shall be fabricated fi.om <br />aluminum treadplate. All running boards, rub rails and the rear step shall be bolted in place and <br />removable. <br /> <br />The fender wells shall be constructed with bolt in, circular composite inner liners to prevent rust <br />pockets and for ease of cleaning and maintenance. The fender wells shall be trimmed with <br />polished stainless steel fenderettes and black rubber gasket material. <br /> <br />All bolts and nuts used in the finish construction of the apparatus shall be stainless steel with <br />proper insulating material to prevent dissimilar metal electrolytic reaction and corrosion. The <br />stainless steel fasteners shall have a special coating applied to deter corrosion. Manufacturer <br />shall supply evidence of coating and results of salt spray testing of coating when used on <br />dissimilar metals. All bolts extending int° the compartment and hose bed areas shall have acorn <br />style nuts attached. <br /> <br />All exterior compartments shall have polished aluminum drip moldings installed above the doors <br />where necessary to prevent water from entering compartments when door is open. <br /> <br />There shall be a stainless steel scuff plate installed on the bottom of the high side compartment <br />door openings to protect the door sill bottom. <br /> <br />COMPARTMENT VENTILATION <br /> <br />Each compartment shall be vented by means of a compartment ventilation system. Vents shall <br />be equipped with mildew resistant, serviceable filter media. The compartment ventilation system <br />shall permit only filtered air to enter the compartment through the system. <br /> <br />Page 17 of 33 <br /> <br /> <br />
